I just ate an authentic microwavable Japanese Noodle dish and it was very unpleasant. I was, however, pleasantly surprised that the "vegetables" came in their own separate package, so I didn't have to have them in the noodles. I had been prepared to pick them out. AND, admittedly, the perfect timing/water amount which led to the noodles being perfectly [re]cooked in the microwave with only a few drops to spare at the end of four minutes was pretty amazing. The fact remain, however, that the packet of flavoring was vastly less tasty than the regular Maruchan Ramen soup variety.
I also paid $2.39 for it. I could have gotten 1.5 bottles of snowflake sprinkles for that price.
Also Gossip Girl makes me realize that all the exciting nuances of ~college~ are/have been totally lost on me, if they ever existed in the first place. Life is depressing. If it is too difficult, you're not trying hard enough. If you try really hard and make it, it was easy and not challenging enough. If you're trying too hard, it could be that you're just not meant to be doing [organic chemistry]. But since it is difficult for everyone, you have nothing to complain about. And you're not allowed to quit anyways.
I wouldn't be thinking this if I wasn't drinking Gingerale to wash the MSG off my tongue. I should be able to look at the structure of monosodium glutimate and tell you whether it is soluble in water or not, but it is easier to just look below the lewis structure on the wikipedia page and tell you for certain. I would have said that it IS, anyways, because of the hydroxyl group and the sodium ion which obviously dissociates in water. Also, gosh, it would be really stupid to think it wouldn't be soluble in water, considering you EAT it and it reacts with aqueous solutions in your mouth.
I've lowered myself to the level of explaining chemistry to my mother, who has never had a chemistry class in her life, to feel more intelligent.
I'm so screwed, manipulative and stupid.
